I traveled to Morocco with my family over twenty years ago, and the vibrant patterns and rich culture never left my memory.
I’ve always wanted to return to this mystical place, so when the opportunity came to join my friend Pixie for a retreat there, I was all in.
We spent ten inspiring days in Marrakech, and then I took an incredible solo journey down to the Saharan desert. I really had no idea what kind of magic was waiting for me down in that desert, wow! I’m so in love with camels now!
Stepping out of my comfort zone into a radically different culture and landscape has always provided a fast-track to creative inspiration, and this was definitely true for this trip.
The saturated colors, rich textures, and new imagery of Morocco quickly made their way into my small travel paintings, and some really interesting new things started to emerge…
I can’t wait to see how all this fresh Morocco inspiration finds it’s way into my larger paintings.
I have a big canvas ready to roll for this month’s Real Time Live: Volume Five, and I’m pretty sure some of these new ladies will be making an appearance.
If you’d like to join me for this month’s live-streamed class on May 4th, I’ll be sharing all my tips and tricks about adding dynamic POP to your paintings. (Morocco is providing the perfect inspiration!). Check out all the details here.
I’m definitely still processing the depth of this journey, and I’m also dreaming into the possibility of leading a retreat in Morocco.
Can you imagine painting in the Saharan desert?!
Thanks so much for following along. It’s such a privilege to experience the world like this, and I’m so grateful to share it with you.
With love,
xo Flora
