I’ve been SO looking forward to sharing this new video with you, and today’s the day!
A little backstory: Earlier this year, a collector asked me to create a special commissioned painting for his clients who had recently created an incredible literacy curriculum to teach dyslexic children how to read. (You’ll notice I include the words literacy for all in the painting).
He also wanted the painting to include owls as a nod to the client’s logo, as well as a video of the creation of the painting so they could see the process — many unique requests!
I loved the heart and generosity behind his vision, so it was an easy YES.
To make all this magic happen, I hired my friend and video wizard, Zippy Lomax. You may have seen the others videos we’ve created here and here. I also reached out to my friend and songbird extraordinaire, Ayla Nereo, to ask if we could set the video to one of her lovely songs. Gotta have that perfect song…
What you see below is the completion of this project — the entire painting process, from start to finish, featuring the song, Twirl Me, by Wildlight (Ayla and her partner David’s collaboration) and remixed by Pumpkin. Video and editing by Zippy.
Collaboration upon collaboration!
For anyone interested in opening their voice or gaining some songwriting skills, I also want to mention that Ayla has an incredible online program called, The Living Song. I’ve worked with Ayla personally, and her heart-centered, wise, and encouraging ways are truly the real deal. We always joke that we do the same thing… me with paint, Ayla with voice.
I hope what we’ve created together offers a bit of inspiration, peace, and uplift. There just might be a sneak peek of my new sweetie in there too 🙂
